We’re really enjoying spending time with families at Feel Good Factor.

Our Family Cookery Club has been busy over the past few weeks cooking food from different countries, so far the Caribbean, Italy and Mexico – with more to come.

Our Holiday Club enjoyed two full days of fun, sport and travel – keeping everyone on their toes.

Day one was a packed day of sports and crafts –  Yorkshire County Cricket Foundation ran a multi sports session, and then there were crafts (sewing and painting) and games for everyone.

Day two was a visit to York courtesy of Northern Rail.

We were met at Leeds Station by Richard and Helen from Northern Rail who talked to us about safety on the railways. On the train our conductor, Charlotte, told us about her job and all the places she travels to, and how she enjoys meeting and helping the customers as a member of the train staff.

Of course we had a great game of Eye Spy with so much to see out of the windows.

First stop in York was the Museum Gardens where we had the opportunity to get up close with some owls, we explored the gardens and the ruined Abbey. We took a walk around the city and saw the Minster, the Shambles and some street entertainment as well as a walk along some of the ancient city wall.  No visit to York is complete without going to the Railway Museum, where we ate our lunch beside the Japanese Bullet Train before exploring all the other exhibits of trains and railways artifacts, before heading home  again, letting the train take the strain.

The children had plenty to say about their day trip!

“I liked playing eye-spy on the train and seeing the old trains”

“How warm the train is”

“The train was comfortable and the staff very kind, in York I loved the Owls, seeing the old ruins and the railway museum”

“Seeing the country side and looking for sheep and cows”

“Relaxing on the train and playing eye-spy, at the museum I liked all the small models that had tiny people on them”

“Watching the movie sitting on the Bullet Train”

“ I enjoyed talking to my friends while we were on the train”

Many of the children on the visit and trip had never been on a train or had a trip beyond Leeds. So, understandably, they where super excited and a little bit nervous but by the end of the day they exhausted because all the fun they had.

Northern Rail are proud supporters of the Feel Good Factor who do so much to support our community.
