Feel Good Factor is one of seven Healthy Living Centres in Leeds and offers a variety of services and activities to the communities of North East and East Leeds with an emphasis on BME (Black & Minority Ethnic) communities but not solely so.
Feel Good Factor was established as an organisation in 2003 after successfully securing £1million funding over a 5 year period from the Big Lottery and the then North East Primary Care Trust. This funding enabled Feel Good Factor to provide and develop a range of Healthy Living activities and initiatives for the residents of Chapeltown and Harehills through our main themes:
Activities have included weight management programmes, Physical Activity classes targeting older people and young people, Mental Wellbeing activities such as counselling and complimentary therapy, Healthy Eating with parents and children, delivery of 5 a day within community and schools settings.
In 2006 we became a company limited by guarantee and secured charitable status in 2007 leading the organisation to broaden its remit which now allows us to operate on a citywide basis. Since then we have been successful in securing funding to deliver other services and healthy living activities on behalf on Leeds City Council and the Strategic Health Authority ‘Altogether Better’ portfolio, both of which are funded through the Big Lottery. These include Older and Active in Leeds and Mobile Play both three year funded projects and Volunteering into Work.
