I’m the Professional Lead for General Practice Nursing in Leeds. Having worked across primary, secondary, and social care I have a rounded knowledge of the health and social care system. Experience in social care taught me to deeply respect the whole system we work in, and value those who support the NHS to be the best it can be in the broadest sense possible. Over the 40 years I have worked in Leeds and at regional levels (NEY, NW, and Midlands), I have witnessed many changes, new models of care, and new ways of working. I have learned that many things are not really new, and that team collaboration is key to finding the right answers. You can’t work in the NHS, general practice, or social care alone; it’s a team sport!
I became a Trustee of Feel Good Factor because I strongly believe in the vital role third sector organisations play in supporting healthy, resilient communities and in enabling truly holistic, wrap around care. I was particularly keen to be grounded in neighbourhood level work, ensuring decisions are informed by lived experience rather than assumption. Alongside my Trustee role, I volunteer at the Saturday Social Group, valuing the opportunity to stay connected to both the people who work at Feel Good Factor and the communities it serves. This hands on involvement reflects my commitment to kindness, equity, responding to voiced need, and her belief that effective governance starts with listening.
