We recently took a coach load of Feel Good Factor friends to Scarborough for the day and one of our guests gave us a wonderful write up of their day:
“I had a lovely time on the Scarborough coach trip with The Feel Good Factor. I have just recently joined Feel Good Factor and this was my first trip. I’ve been a carer for a long time until fairly recently, sadly, and I wanted to join in the fun.
The journey to Scarborough wasn’t too long, and our bus driver was lovely with a great sense of humour who drove safely, plus he played great music! I even had a personal sing-a-long. I did give some feedback about the state of the coach which could have been cleaner, and it’s much nicer to travel feeling that your surroundings are cared for.
I cannot stress enough how vital groups like Feel Good Factor are! They provide many great activities, but for me I have to say the trips are the best and are an important element to help people get out of their immediate environment which is a necessity, especially if people live in the inner cities. Getting out and about is stimulating, inspiring, educating, encourages socialising, supports good mental health, creates new experiences and builds confidence.
Not everybody has the opportunity or ability to take themselves out on a day trip, due to things like no personal transport, low income, not being able to go somewhere solo, etc. Community groups that offer day trips as part of their services must continue. They are literally a lifeline for some people.
Scarborough was a very pleasant temporary relief from my sadness due to a recent bereavement. The weather was not great, in true British weather style, cloudy, very cold and windy. But… it didn’t rain! Regardless of the cold and wind my soul fully enjoyed the experience of just getting out and about and, for me, the trip was well worth it.
For lots of reasons people struggle to deal with public transport and getting to places, so having Feel Good Factor taking the strain, with subsidised/affordable trips, and making all the arrangements is really perfect for vulnerable people. Regular trips and activities that give us the opportunity to get out of our regular day to day environment. Feel Good Factor is doing a grand service to the community. I’m grateful for them.
I look forward to continue being a member of Feel Good Factor, learning more about what is on offer and what I can get involved with, but best of all I can’t wait for more trips.
A big THANK YOU to Feel Good Factor.
