“I’ve never met so many visually impaired people at the same time. I didn’t know there were so many. I thought it was just me and two others. It’s been great and I’ve swapped phone numbers so we can meet up.”
Well, that comment from a recent participant at a Visual Impairment Wellbeing event we held at FGF recently was just what we had in mind for anyone taking part. Some visually impaired people came to FGF for the first time – made easier because we are able to provide taxis for them. The group enjoyed several wellbeing activities (timetable attached) and many new friendships were formed.
“That massage really made a difference. I hadn’t realised how much tension I was holding onto. I’ve taken Phoenix’s phone number so I can book a full massage with them.”
We offered chair based yoga, mindfulness, art therapy and Indian head massage, as well as lunch and conversation.
Every other Monday we have our Monday Deaf Group with games, chat, drinks, information for BSL users – everyone is welcome to come down and join us every fortnight for these fun and sociable sessions. Find out more at our Facebook event page here https://www.facebook.com/events/3184477598234435/
