Introduction

In the past we have developed a womens group that provided a safe place for women to learn to relax and learn skills and techniques that enhanced their physical and mental wellbeing.
It also provided access to opportunities to enable them to bring other positive changes to all areas of their lives.
Currently we are providing art classes set up in partnership with Leeds College of Art. The project contributes to improving mental wellbeing by providing a safe learning environment enabling the participants to increase their confidence and self-esteem as well as the opportunity to join a formal art course at Leeds College of Art.
The project aims to improve mental wellbeing though teaching a wide range of art skills, such as, painting, drawing, textiles, collages, mosaics and jewelery design.
The art classes have been well attended and very successful this year. Two of our students won awards, the Outstanding Achievement Award and Community Champion Award.
And the art work has been exhibited at Meanwood Urban Valley Farm and Leeds College of Art. Our plan for the next couple of months is to take part in the Love Arts Festival this year.
